With a recipe that is delicious and easy to make it’s always fun to spice it up and add different things to it! Another great thing about this recipe is that you can make it ahead and have it for lunches all week or send it for the kiddos! Such a great option! It is also a party favorite and I will be making it this year for the Super Bowl! So yummy!

Making the Mustard Cream Sauce:
Making this mustard cream sauce is like the secret ingredient to this recipe! It is amazing & crucial to this sandwich! It is seriously my favorite sauce for a sandwich! Especially one with all this yummy fatty ham on it! So amazing!
Step 1: Saute the Shallot in Olive Oil & Whiskey
First, you will need to sauté your diced shallot in your olive oil for about 2-3 minutes first. Then, your will add your whiskey and continue to sauté your shallots and let the alcohol evaporate off for 3-4 more minutes.
Step 2: Add in your Heavy Cream
Then, you will add in your cream and allow it to simmer for 4-5 minutes. Whisk the cream as it simmers, until it begins to thicken and froth up.
Step 3: Add in Mustard, Salt, and Pepper
Now, you will add in the regular mustard and dijon mustard and whisk it in until all the clumps are out. Then, add salt and pepper to taste.
Save for later:
These sandwiches save so well for later. Once they are cooked and cooled, you can bag them up for lunches all week (saves for 5 days), or you can bag them up in a airtight bag and save them in the freezer for up to a month. If you freeze them, all you have to do to reheat them is wrap them in a paper towel and put them in the microwave for 45 seconds. If you want to reheat them from the refrigerator, put them in a paper towel and microwave them for 20 seconds. OR you can also heat them in a toaster oven! Up to you!
Substitutions:
There are some easy and yummy substitutions for this recipe. If you want tomatoes or other vegetables, simply add them. Don’t like banana peppers? Take them off and switch it for pickles or take them off altogether. I will say though, if you haven’t tried them with the banana peppers, you should! My husband swore up and down he wouldn’t like them, but he loved them! You could also switch out cheeses! If you want a stronger flavor you could use all parmesan! The options are endless! Don’t be afraid to have fun with these!
