It’s almost the new year! You know what that means… COCKTAILS! I get so very excited for a delicious cocktail. My husband is a huge whiskey fanatic, so I wanted to create a cocktail that we both would enjoy for the holidays. I love a good fresh whiskey sour, so this really was fun to make. The freshness of the lemon and the rosemary really elevates this cocktail to the next level! I can’t wait for you to try it!

This cocktail is really quite simple. Cocktails really don’t need a lot of sugar or fancy ingredients to be great. Some of the best cocktails in the world only have 2 or 3 ingredients. This cocktail follows that simplicity. Whiskey sours have gotten a bad rap at most bars, because many places put sweet and sour with whiskey and call it a day. A whiskey sour with sweet and sour is not a TRUE whiskey sour. In this whiskey sour we will use fresh ingredients to make it a spectacular cocktail.
Supplies:
- Whiskey Glass
- Shaker
- Round Ice Mold (If you don’t have this, regular ice will work)
- Saucepan
- Strainer
Ingredients:
- Brown Sugar
- Fresh Rosemary
- Water
- Lemon
- Whiskey
Step 1: Make the Simple Syrup
First, in a small saucepan add the water, brown sugar, and rosemary. Bring to a simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Strain
Next, strain any of the rosemary out of the simple syrup. Set the simple syrup aside to cool.
Step 3: Mix and Shake
Then, in a shaker, mix ice, juice from a lemon, brown sugar and rosemary simple syrup, and whiskey. Shake for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Pour and Serve
Last, pour the whiskey sour in a whiskey glass over a large ice ball (or just ice cubes). Garnish with a rosemary sprig and serve.
